When it comes to math, tutoring can be extremely beneficial. As a subject that builds on prior topics, math can be much more challenging if the prerequisite material is not mastered. Having the focused attention of someone who is committed to helping you fill in the required gaps in understanding can save time and ensure that all effort studying is highly productive. Tutoring doesn't just help students who are struggling to do well, it can be extremely beneficial for students who want to gain deeper insights into the material that they are learning. With so many topics to cover in a given math course, even A students don't always gain the insights that they need to really internalize the material. My approach to helping students results in rapid or optimal progress, no matter what their current level, ability, or attitude. By observing a student's comprehension of a topic, I create custom explanations that result in optimal progress for that student. Through a technique that I have developed, I am able to help students realize genuine comprehension on their own, ensuring that concepts are really understood. This technique involves asking questions that facilitate understanding and insights in the areas that are being developed. Math tutoring isn't just about savvy techniques that help students make rapid progress. Oftentimes, students need to be inspired or need a boost in confidence. They need to be studying with a tutor who they like and who listens to them. This is why it is important that a tutor is highly personable and someone who is able to adapt to their personality so that they feel comfortable and happy to learn.
