Experience
I have 4 years of experience teaching French as a university French instructor and can help students of French with the following: - grammar - vocabulary - pronunciation accuracy - speaking practice - reading comprehension - writing (whether for short homework assignments or compositions) - test preparation (regular classroom exams, SAT II French, AP French, etc.) I love working with students of all ages and am extremely patient and understanding when it comes to teaching French, since I used to be a student of French myself. Despite not being a native speaker (I began learning French in the U.S. at age 12), I have a native accent that is very easy for both French people and students to understand. As I've discovered over the years, one advantage to not being a native French speaker is that I can understand the areas of difficulty that English-speaking students encounter when they're learning French and can help them improve in problem areas using explanations and examples based on comparisons between French and English. I have a thorough grasp of French grammar rules and can also share a lot of online resources with students that can help them when they're studying independently. Other information about me: - recently worked as a professional translator in Paris - served as an editor for "French Essentials for Dummies" (published by Wiley in June 2011) - studied at the University of Paris for 2 semesters during college I look forward to working with you!
