San Jacinto, CA Profile: I'm an English instructor at the community college level and have received both graduate and undergraduate degrees in English. I want to be a tutor to expand my skills and I believe one on one tutoring to be the most effective way to teach writing and reading. I have publishing experience and have been involved in many projects from journalism, fiction, poetry, and essay writing. My journalism experience is limited to around 40 articles in local city news papers. I'm the author of two books of poetry, Flight of August (Trio House Press 2014), which won the 2013 Louise Bogan Award, and Machinist in the Snow (ELJ Publications 2015). I've published fiction and poetry widely in over 50 literary journals including Passages North, Superstition Review, Forklift Ohio, and others. I currently run a non-profit organization that runs community writing workshops called PoetrIE. www.poetrIE.org. Overall I'm looking for students with a willingness to learn at any level.
