ExperienceI have a bachelor's degree in math and philosophy from Columbia University, and a master's degree in Philosophy from University of California Riverside. Right now I am at UCR working towards my PhD in philosophy. I have four years of experience teaching middle and high school math, and seventeen years of experience tutoring math.I have taught many levels of math, from elementary school basics to Calculus. I have also taught test prep for the SAT and GRE. When I teach, I focus on thoroughly and clearly explaining concepts, as well as conveying my own enthusiasm about the topics. I want to make the concepts accessible, so I try to personalize my approach based on the student's level and learning style. I also focus on the fundamentals, such as formulas and concrete examples, so that students will be able to make sense of the connections between more complicated topics. I believe this helps students learn a deeper understanding of mathematics. In my opinion, one of the most important parts of teaching is conveying my own enthusiasm about math. I hope that I am able to show my students that math is both interesting and important to the world we live in.
